still plugging along....

Things are still moving along in our adoption process.  Right now we are just waiting to come up with the final funds to pay our dossier fee, which is about another $1800.  We are home study approved and have been given an "approximate" waitlist number.  I'm trying to be patient but I so want to officially be waiting, since our wait is expected to take 12-24 months.  Praying we can finally be on the list soon!!!

Today we sent in our 5th grant application!  This was a task I thought might never happen a few months ago.  Those applications have so many questions, from tax information to your parenting styles.  We are praying we might blessed with some kind of financial assistance, because we have an almost impossible mountain to climb in that department.  Unfortunately, we already heard from one organization that won't even consider our application until we have a referral.

In other news, I felt like such a big weight was lifted off my shoulders when we decided to postpone the auction until after the holidays.  As a mom, you get pulled in so many different directions it has felt great to slow down.  I struggle alot with wanting to be involved in many different things, especially things that have to do with helping children in Ethiopia and our church.  I've been praying a lot for guidance in this department and it's become clear I have to focus more on God and my family.  Being a mom is my #1 job and at times I can let other things start running my life.

One of my favorite days during the week is at our churches womens bible study.  These women are always such a joy to be around, and constantly bless my life.  We are currently reading Timothy Keller's, Counterfeit Gods.  The book talks about all the false idols we have in our lives.  Basically the short story is anything you put above God, even if they are really good things (like helping orphans, your family, your health, workingout, kids activities, money, your home, power, success, etc.) you will never be truly fulfilled.  So many times we let all those "things" drive our lives which is not a good thing.  I have become so much more aware of many of the things that are driving my life, and I have a lot to work on!  I highly recommend checking this book out.  You can read more here: Counterfeit gods

{auction - postponed}

After much thought, we have decided to post-pone our online auction until after the holidays.

You might be thinking, why?  Well here is how I have been feeling lately.  The holidays are always such a busy time for any family, not to mention all the time I have already spent focusing on this adoption.  While we are still a family of 5 I want to focus on my 3 littlest, during this season and the reason we celebrate this special time.  More time lost focusing on the auction right now isn't where my heart wants to be.

The beautiful fall leaves and glorious sunshine will soon be gone, leaving me much more time in January to sew and put together a really fun auction (I hope anyway)!

We continue to pray we will be able to submit our dossier fee soon (we have about 1/3 of it now), but we are trusting in God to show us the perfect timing.

Thank you so much, to all of you who have been so generous with your
prayers, financial support and encouragement!

Prepping for Auction

Thank you so much for everyone who has offered to donate items to our online fundraising auction.  I'm so excited to get it up and running on November 1, just in time for the holidays!  Please let me know if you would like to donate an item or have questions about the auction.

Our home study is finished and approved, we are now waiting for our USCIS fingerprinting appointment.  We continue to pray that we may soon be ready to pay our next set of fees so that we can finally go on the official wait list.  Please also pray for His work in the lives of those who may be having to make heartbreaking decisions about loved ones.  Adoption is so much more then finding a child, but praying that the one who finds you truly has had all other options exhausted.

Though we know the wait will be long, it's been such a blessing to have the support and love from so many friends and family.
